Lake Vermilion is one of the country's most productive fisheries of Walleyes and Muskies. The lake is also good for smallmouth bass, crappies, and northern pike. However, this does not mean that fishing on Lake Vermilion is always easy. In fact, at times fishing can be downright difficult, but then, if it were always easy, where would the challenge be!
For novice fishermen and even good fishermen who are not familiar with Lake Vermilion, I recommend hiring a guide for the first day. Guide services can be found at www.lakevermilion.com. Another good source of fishing information is the Lake Vermilion forum on www.fishingminnesota.com.
